Biography

Nestene has been voted one of the Top 50 women in Accounting worldwide (Practice Ignition: 2021), one of the Top 35 under 35 accountants in South Africa (SAICA: 2018) and has had the pleasure of being featured in the Accountancy SA Publication.

She is on a mission to save the global economy - one small business at a time - and enjoys being invited to various events to speak. Some conferences/ events she has spoken at include:
- The British Accounting and Finance Association Annual Conference
- The South African Accounting Association Annual Conference
- Accountex Virtual Conference

She is a Chartered Accountant, Entrepreneur, Visionary, Speaker, Author, Influencer and Teacher. She enjoys getting involved in new projects, challenging the status quo, and working with entrepreneurs and small business owners.

She is the proud #tribemom of a global group of entrepreneurs who call Explore ProTech Entrepreneurial Haven, the company she co-founded, home. She regularly posts video content on the Explore ProTech Youtube Channel and contributes blog posts to the Explore ProTech blog.

On top of this, she currently lectures, teaches and trains for the South African Accounting Academy, Damelin Online, Probeta and Explore ProTech. Training topics she is passionate about presenting include Entrepreneurship, GRAP, Valuations, Technology, Non-Financial Skills for Financial Accountants and Auditing.

Nestene completed her academic traineeship at the North-West University, after placing second in her honours class in the CTA year. She then completed her articles at a bigger small firm called CAP Chartered Accountants, whilst completing her Masters Degree in Auditing Education.

Immediately after completing her articles she was appointed as Senior Lecturer: Auditing at the University of Cape Town. She helped develop various new courses and tools at the University of Cape Town, including the Public Sector Diploma and Audit Business Game.

After three years she decided to try out her entrepreneurial wings and started up her private practice, founding the first virtual audit firm in South Africa and being nominated as one of the Top 35 under 35 accountants in South Africa in the process.
